ATC’s recent goals and accomplishments include…

Program Growth:  Art Therapy Connection (ATC) aimed to expand its existing art therapy program and to develop new social services programs.

During the recent 2013-14 school year…

  • ATC’s existing art therapy program grew by 100% to serve twice as many at-risk students as the year before.
  • ATC launched an expressive arts program at KIPP Ascend Middle School for 30 at-risk students.
  • ATC launched a teacher support program at KIPP Ascend Middle School for 25 teachers and administrative staff.

Program Efficacy:  Art Therapy Connection (ATC) aimed to increase the efficacy of its social services programs and to find new ways to measure program efficacy.

Evaluation of ATC’s 2013-14 art therapy program showed an increase in program efficacy.  Data showed that among the students who participated in art therapy:

    • 100% graduated from high school.
    • 71% achieved increased self-awareness.
    • 61% achieved increased relationship skills.
    • 67% achieved increased social awareness.
    • 75% achieved increased self-management skills.
    • 74% achieved increased responsible decision-making skills.

Evaluation of ATC’s 2013-14 expressive arts program showed similar results.  Data showed that among the students who participated in expressive arts:

    • 71% achieved increased self-awareness.
    • 77% achieved increased relationship skills.
    • 67% achieved increased social awareness.
    • 75% achieved increased self-management skills.
    • 74% achieved increased responsible decision-making skills.

School Partnerships:

  • ATC partnered with KIPP Ascend Middle School in North Lawndale to provide a powerful expressive arts program in the 2013-14 school year.  ATC will return to KIPP to provide weekly art therapy and teacher support in the 2014-15 school year.
  • ATC has partnered with Hope Institute for Learning Academy in Humboldt Park to provide weekly art therapy programming in the 2014-15 school year.
  • ATC has partnered National Teachers Academy in the South Side to provide weekly art therapy programming in the 2014-15 school year.

Infrastructure Development:

  • ATC developed 7 new board committees and added 4 new board members.
  • ATC launched a new volunteer program that has reorganized and expanded the existing volunteer base.
  • ATC launched a new marketing and PR strategy that included a redeveloped website, improved outreach methods, and a new student sponsorship program.
